«FlexAssist» wins Age Innovation Prize 2024

Industrial Design

The «FlexAssist» project has been awarded the Age Innovation Prize 2024. The FlexAssist chair, developed by students of the Bachelor's Major in Industrial Design (ZHdK) with mechanical engineering students from ETH Zurich, improves the mobility and independence of elderly people on public transport. Equipped with springs that cushion when sitting down and help when standing up, the chair helps prevent falls and makes travelling safer and more comfortable for seniors.

The «FlexAssist» team, Gian Teufen, Jacqueline Keller, Lukas Mendes and Luc Schweizer, impressed the jury with its practical implementation and positive impact on quality of life. The prize was awarded as part of the «Age Innovation Prize», which promotes innovative solutions for older people.
«FlexAssist» was developed in March 2024 as part of the «Design and Engineering» module of the Bachelor's Major in Industrial Design under the supervision of Martin Schütz.
