Chornozem
«Chornozem» is a spatial soil-contamination detection system that uses an organic fluorescent reagent and UV imaging to map heavy-metal pollution across agricultural land, providing war-affected farming communities with an affordable, accessible tool for targeted remediation and safe food production. It is an ecologically driven solution which challenges traditional human-centred and capitalist worldviews.
The installation features a video documenting the concept and development of the project, inviting the viewer into a conversation about soil health in a war setting as well as community-based action for its remediation.
