Night as Habitat

Artificial lighting alters the habitats of nocturnal insects. In a field research project, the Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape (WSL) explored the effects of light pollution on the insect population. A hand-drawn poster series shows the transition from disturbed to functioning habitats in five scenes, underscoring the consequences of artificial lighting and the importance of natural darkness.
