Of Moss & Men
The goblin (or Kobold)—condensed from diverse folkloric traditions into a monstrous foil for civility—is a staple of modern fantasy storytelling. What then would it mean to view goblins as aspirational? The recent rise of Goblincore (a subculture inspired by goblin folklore and aesthetics) heralds an identity that rejects exceptionalism and celebrates the more-than-human. This project situates Goblincore within a broader cultural and epistemological shift in the way the more-than-human is understood, and proposes a relational methodology for finding coziness and familiarity in the feral.
